Hydrogeological Research of the "El Cardito" Region, Zacatecas

Water is a vital element for humans and essential for the economic and social development of communities. Mexico has a significant portion of its territory with desert and semi-desert characteristics, making it necessary to increase the study of groundwater to address various needs in these regions. This study aims to establish a sequence for investigating this issue in its first stage, with the goal of facilitating its solution while also highlighting the existing deficiencies in the information required for this purpose. The study does not aim to fully cover the topic but, rather, seeks to encourage other researchers to explore an appropriate solution.
The studied area is located in the northern part of the state of Zacatecas, encompassing parts of the municipalities of Concepción del Oro and Mazapil. Based on the general geological study previously conducted by the author, the various aspects of hydrology and hydrogeology of the region are reviewed, relationships between both disciplines are established, and a series of conclusions derived from the referenced study are provided.
