This issue of the Bulletin is the explanatory text of the Geological and Petrographic Plan of the Basin of Mexico, S.W. Region, by Del Castillo y Ordóñez, published by the Mexican Geological Commission in 1893 (reproduced in De Cserna, 1990, Plate 3). It presents a general description of the Basin of Mexico and a more detailed description of its southwestern part, which corresponds approximately to Mexico City and its surrounding urban area. It is accompanied by a petrographic study of the igneous rocks that demonstrates the author's mastery of volcanology.
