Ecología y distribución de los micromolúscos recientes de la Laguna Madre, Tamaulipas, México

Se analizan las poblaciones de micromoluscos contenidas en 63 muestras de sedimentos. Los materiales se estudiaron cualitativa y cuantitativamente, tratando de definir las tendencias de distribución de las poblaciones y los conjuntos característicos, correlacionándolos con los factores ecológicos obtenidos.
Se identificaron 32 especies de micromoluscos, con un predominio de los pelecípodos sobre los gasterópodos; la mayoría son típicamente marinas y existen pocos ejemplares de cada especie por muestra.
El conjunto faunístico dominante en la laguna está formado por los pelecípodos Mulinia lateralis (Say), Anomalocardia auberiana (d’Orbigny) y el gasterópodo Acteon punctostria tus (Adams), que son muy abundantes y forman un conjunto característico de laguna externa cerrada hipersalina.
